Fresh Bus launches India’s first unified digital travel experience for intercity bus passengers

Fresh Bus, India’s pioneering all-electric intercity bus service, has launched the Unified Customer Journey (UCJ), a new digital platform that transforms the intercity travel experience. Conceptualised to address traveller’s anxiety caused by fragmented communication, UCJ was designed not only to solve pre-boarding anxiety, but also to keep travellers informed throughout their journey. From ticket confirmation and boarding point visuals to real-time updates on amenities, halts, and final drop-off details, designed to serve even non-registered travellers (e.g., bookings made on someone else’s behalf), UCJ ensured anyone with the link could access vital journey details. UCJ consolidates all critical travel information into a single, mobile-friendly link, offering a seamless and transparent experience from booking to arrival across Hyderabad Buses.

Fresh Bus is currently the only operator in India to offer this kind of integrated digital journey experience. The company runs on multiple routes across southern India, including Chennai electric bus services, and is expanding rapidly to new destinations.

Fresh Bus is the first and only player in the intercity bus industry to conceptualize and deploy such a unified digital journey experience.

The UCJ link is automatically shared via SMS and WhatsApp at the time of booking. It allows passengers to view their entire journey in one place, including ticket confirmation, live bus tracking, captain contact, boarding point visuals, in-transit updates such as meal halts, and final drop-off information. The link also captures passenger feedback through an integrated micro-survey at the end of each trip.

Udbhav Mishra, Head of CX Strategy and Experience, said, “While booking interfaces have improved, we found that a large number of customer queries came after the ticket was booked. People were unsure where to board, how to track the bus, or whom to call if something went wrong. UCJ solves this by giving passengers a clear, visual timeline of their journey. It’s about making travel feel calm, connected, and informed.”

Sudhakar Chirra, Founder & CEO, Fresh Bus added, “UCJ is more than a tech feature. It reflects our belief that intercity travel in India can be simpler and more human. This is a small but significant step toward that vision.”

UCJ was built to provide end-to-end clarity, from booking and boarding to en route updates and final drop-off. This transparency led to a significant rise in NPS (from 48 to 62), a drop in missed bus instances from 4 percent, and improved customer retention from 48 to 57 percent. On the operations side, support queries fell by 49 percent, resolution time reduced from 14.5 to 3.5 hours, and ROI on customer experience investment increased from 0.8x to 2.4x, all without additional headcount. UCJ has strengthened customer satisfaction while delivering measurable business efficiency for passengers travelling on routes such as the Coimbatore to Bangalore bus.

The platform is built using React.js and Node.js to ensure fast, responsive performance. Firebase and AWS S3 serve static content such as images and boarding visuals, while GPS APIs provide live location tracking. A custom content management system allows the operations team to push route-specific updates instantly without relying on engineering support.

Fresh Bus is currently the only operator in India to offer this kind of integrated digital journey experience. The company runs on multiple routes across southern India and is expanding rapidly to new destinations.
